The Rise Of AI Blogs Is Creating Unexpected Controversy
To reduce harm to humanity, it's time to reconsider the consequences of AI being at the forefront instead of a helpful assistant.
Hey everyone! This week's newsletter is different than my usual posts, but I think you’ll find this new emergence in technology fascinating. Let me know what you think in the comments :)
AI’s swift advancements are encroaching on the blogosphere. The growth of this form of technology has grown exponentially between 2024 and 2025.
Now the only problem is that it’s not serving as a personal assistant. It’s becoming a replacement.
Despite the constant advice from those in editorial and media to use AI as a tool, others are taking an alternative approach. Instead of embracing personal ingenuity, some are using generative AI to create recipes and food blogs. Of course, recipe testing is a process that can’t be replaced. In essence, “alien” intelligence is not capable of tasting a meal or certain nuances that a dish may have.
Unfortunately, AI-generated food blogs have untested recipes and inconsistent images. Incorrect storage or serving suggestions are another issue. Advising someone to reheat their cake in the oven before serving will raise some eyebrows. On June 12th, 2025, a YouTube video uploaded by Our Gabled Home expresses concern over AI recipes. Recipe developer and YouTuber Anja says, “We have also seen weird things like if your dough doesn’t stick, you add some super glue.” While a sentence like this would trigger alarm bells in most readers' minds, AI can direct people to cook food in a way that can cause bodily harm and even food poisoning. What happens when an AI recipe requires torching a meringue or flambé?
This poses unnecessary risks that can easily be avoided with proper research and recipe testing conducted by a human.
In an article from Vox titled “Don’t Let AI Steal Your Job,” senior technology correspondent, Adam Clark Estes, says, “a June Gallup poll found that 42 percent of American employees are using AI a few times a year, while 19 percent report deploying it several times a week. The technology is especially popular with white-collar workers.”
Many digital publishers request original copy without the assistance of AI. However, blogger and podcast host Jamie Silva reiterates the importance of ethical AI use. In an excerpt from her podcast, The Sassy Solopreneur, Silva says,
“AI has made such a huge difference in my business. In terms of execution, in terms of speeding my work flows up, and just being more like a partner than replacing me. I’m still the one with original thoughts. I’m still the one creating my own topic clusters my own content. ideas are coming from me, i am the originator of everything in my business, and AI is there to just perfect it.”
The concept of ethical AI use is a popular sentiment among content creators. Utilizing AI as a tool for efficiency or streamlining processes is more valuable than creating a space devoid of human thought, emotion, or process. These factors are relevant in understanding if someone can genuinely connect with a piece of art, writing, or even a dish.
At the same time, there are methods for spotting fake food. These images will be devoid of crumbs and perfectly placed. In some cases, the food looks cartoonish. Colors are incredibly vivid, while shapes are too perfect (like unnaturally round blueberries). Another abnormality you may find is that silverware may warp, or patterns in the background may appear on a plate or a cake design. This form of deception is very off-puting. Especially when AI food blogs with inauthentic recipes are sometimes monetized.
Remember to support the bloggers who put in the work to create recipes that you can enjoy. These bloggers will embrace your feedback and suggestions. Now more than ever, the human condition is becoming subhuman. Sharing experiences on travel or beauty may seem objective, but the frustration, simplicity, or complexities of these moments are unique. They require the lens of a person who can warn you of possible irritation when using certain skincare, describe how easy a particular hotel’s reservation process is, or give details on alternative methods and dupes that work just as well.

Thank you for the mention, Lala! And fantastic post! I see AI as a tool, but it's true that some people are starting to rely too much on it, and as you say, the human element is impossible to completely replicate.
